Cardinal Mooney High School to Host Renowned Vatican Astronomer Br. Guy Consolmagno, S.J.
YOUNGSTOWN – Cardinal Mooney High School is pleased to announce a special visit from Br. Guy Consolmagno, S.J., Director of the Vatican Observatory, on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 2-3 p.m. in the school’s auditorium. Br. Guy, an acclaimed Jesuit astronomer, will deliver a presentation titled “The Catholic Church and Science, Especially Astronomy,” offering students a unique opportunity to explore the relationship between faith and science.
Br. Guy is recognized for his engaging presentations and his expertise in demonstrating the harmony between scientific inquiry and religious belief. His visit aims to inspire students by showcasing how the study of the cosmos can coexist with a life of faith.
The event was made possible through the efforts of Dr. Richard Mattiussi from the Theology Department and Mr. David Bernard from the Science Department, who co-lead the school’s Astronomy Club. The club’s members are especially eager to meet Br. Guy and discuss their questions about the universe.
