YOUNGSTOWN – Cardinal Mooney High School hosted its latest Merit Scholars Luncheon, an event designed to strengthen connections between current scholars and the school’s extensive alumni network.

The luncheon, part of the Merit Scholar Program, featured guest speaker Dr. Jamie DiDomenico, a 2014 graduate of Cardinal Mooney. DiDomenico, a general dentist practicing in Boardman and Salem, shared insights from her journey through higher education and into her professional career.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in Health and Rehabilitation Science, with a minor in Biology, from The Ohio State University, DiDomenico went on to complete her Doctor of Dental Surgery at The Ohio State College of Dentistry. She spoke about the importance of perseverance, mentorship, and the lasting support of the Mooney Family.

“The students were awesome, they asked great questions and were such a respectful and attentive group! It was fun!” DiDomenico said.

Kim Simons Cox, Cardinal Mooney’s enrichment coordinator, emphasized the impact of DiDomenico’s message on the students.

“Jamie did an amazing job relating to our students, sharing personal experiences, providing advice, and above all, reminding them to recognize and appreciate the power of Mooney Family relationships as they pursue their life ambitions,” Cox said.

The Merit Scholars Program at Cardinal Mooney offers students opportunities to engage with alumni and other professionals, reinforcing the value of a Mooney education beyond the classroom.
