YOUNGSTOWN – Cardinal Mooney High School is proud to announce the appointment of Linda Congemi and Amanda Bendel as Co-Head Coaches of the Cardinal Mooney cheerleading program. Both coaches bring a wealth of experience, passion, and a deep-rooted connection to the Mahoning Valley’s cheerleading community.

A Cardinal Mooney alumna, Congemi returns to her alma mater with a strong sense of pride and tradition.

“Returning to the nest! From wearing a red and gold uniform as a CMHS alum to now coaching the squad—I am so proud to return to my roots and revive the traditions that made this program special,” said Congemi. “Let’s write the next chapter! Go Cardinals!”

Congemi cheered for Holy Family, Cardinal Mooney, and Youngstown State University. A former competitive gymnast and dancer, she has coached cheerleading since 2000 at various levels, including stints at Boardman Glenwood, Hubbard Middle School, and Coral Springs Middle School in Florida. She currently teaches at Hubbard Middle School and coaches gymnastics at Kathi’s Dance and Gym Center. Congemi lives in Boardman with her husband and six children.

Joining her on the sidelines is Amanda Bendel, who brings a dynamic new energy and a shared dedication to building spirit and support for the Cardinals.

“I’m ready to begin a new chapter, a new energy, and a new nest—proud to be joining the Cardinal Mooney family!” Bendel said. “Can’t wait to spread our wings and fly this season cheering and supporting the red and gold!”

Bendel cheered at Boardman Glenwood, Boardman High School, and Youngstown State University. With five years of coaching experience, she has worked with programs at Boardman Glenwood, Hubbard Middle School, and the Boardman Little Spartans. She currently works at Small Wonders Daycare in Columbiana and lives in Boardman with her daughter, Magnolia.

The CMHS community looks forward to the energy, leadership, and vision both coaches will bring as they work together to elevate the cheerleading program and uphold the traditions of Cardinal Mooney High School.
