YOUNGSTOWN — Cardinal Mooney High School students will present The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, a comedic twist on classic fairy tales, on Nov. 15, 16, and 17.

The play combines beloved tales like Little Red Riding Hood, The Frog Prince, Snow White, Cinderella, and Hansel and Gretel into a fast-paced, laughter-filled performance that runs approximately 90 minutes. The continuous storyline weaves together familiar characters with a fresh, humorous approach.

Students have been rehearsing three to four days a week, dedicating two hours per session, with additional practice at home. Their hard work is evident, cast members say.

“I have a lot of fun rehearsing,” said Laila Edmonds, who plays Little Red Riding Hood. “It’s kind of difficult going over your lines, so practice at home helps, but other than that, I really enjoy being part of the play.”

The narrators, Jibril Jackson and Alexa Vargo, will guide the audience through the performance. Jackson said the cast and crew are excited to bring laughter to the audience.

“It’s going to be one of the best plays Mooney has put on in a while,” Jackson said. “The production work we did is amazing. We just need to get the props together, and everyone is going to have a good laugh.”

Director Mrs. Stepanie Chizmar said selecting the right play involved considering the students’ strengths and casting opportunities.
