YOUNGSTOWN — For nearly a decade, Toni Chahine has shown great commitment to Cardinal Mooney High School as a coach and student-athlete, and now she’ll contribute to the school even more.

This week Chahine, a 2015 graduate of Cardinal Mooney was named assistant athletic director.

“As head coach of our volleyball and women’s lacrosse teams, Toni has demonstrated commitment to our athletic programs,” Cardinal Mooney president and principal, Nick Beyer, said. “Toni also brings extensive knowledge of high school athletics and a deep passion for Cardinal Mooney to our athletic office.”

Chahine has been the head coach of the women’s lacrosse team for eight years, and volleyball as the head coach for three. She also served three years as an assistant volleyball coach.

“I am so excited to give back to a place that has given me so much! I look forward to being able to make a difference within and shine a light on all athletics. Cardinal Mooney has given me some of the best memories and opportunities throughout my life. I look to provide the same positive experiences for every student within the building,” Chahine said. “Sports have always been a passion of mine, so to have the role as assistant athletic director is a dream come true. I am so excited to see the development of our sports programs over the next few years, and couldn’t be more excited to get started.”

Chahine will work alongside current Cardinal Mooney athletic director and head football coach, Carl Pelini.

“We’re excited about Toni. She is already an integral part of the athletic department as the head volleyball and girls lacrosse coach,” Pelini said. “She is a hard worker and very organized, and she will be a great asset to the school community.”
